Head of Transport

Our customer is a specialist manufacturing and distribution group that is going on a significant growth journey. They have an opportunity for an Operations Manager to join a key site north of Belfast, Northern Ireland.

As the business continues to develop, there is now a requirement to strengthen operational capability, with a particular focus on logistics and transport efficiency, to improve performance, reduce cost and bring greater structure to day-to-day operations.

The Role

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Operations Manager will take responsibility for the performance and improvement of logistics and transport operations, while supporting overall site coordination.

• Management and optimisation of fleet and transport operations
• Driving improvements in route planning, utilisation and cost efficiency
• Oversight of transport compliance, maintenance and operational standards
• Implementation and development of systems and data visibility
• Leadership and development of logistics and office based teams
• Managing relationships with third party transport providers and suppliers

The Person

We are seeking a practical and experienced operational leader with a strong background in transport and logistics. You will ideally:

• Have experience managing fleet, transport or logistics operations within an industrial environment
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of route optimisation, cost control and operational efficiency
• Have knowledge of transport compliance, maintenance and regulatory requirements
• Be comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high volume environment
• A strong educational background, ideally a degree and bring a hands-on, solutions focused approach
• Be a collaborative operator, able to work effectively alongside established teams
