Engineering Learning Coach – Hybrid
Based from the main campus in Openshaw, Manchester, covering the Northwest and Yorkshire. Large area to be covered. Salary up to £41,975 – Permanent Full Time – 37 hours per week. Salary depends on teaching and assessing qualifications. Preferably qualified to Level 4+ in Engineering.
Our client is looking to recruit an Engineering Learning Coach responsible for coaching, mentoring, tutoring, and assessing students. You will support apprentices to develop their knowledge, skills and behaviours required to be demonstrated within the apprenticeship. This includes teaching in the classroom and workshop, completing guidance, and mock endpoint assessments to ready apprentices for independent assessment.
You will work closely with other Learning Coaches to embed classroom knowledge into the workplace. You will collaborate with employers, build good relationships, and update all parties on the apprentices’ progress.
Embed maths and English into your delivery to support learners who do not have the required functional skills level or equivalent.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain a caseload of learners as agreed with your line manager, carrying out regular learner interventions.
- Ensure evidence for learning, achievement, funding, and Ofsted is captured effectively and timely.
- Meet 20% OJT requirements as per procedure.
- Help learners achieve the highest grade in EPAs they are capable of.
- Use onefile to progress learners, setting targets for Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours.
- Develop individualised learning programmes with employer and learner based on initial assessments, including Maths and English.
- Engage learner’s line manager, clarifying responsibilities and collaborating to provide support.
- Plan the endpoint assessment process with learners and employers, ensuring preparation is included.
- Inspire and motivate learners; identify and adapt to barriers.
- Motivate learners to achieve qualifications on time.
- Deliver Maths, English, and ICT where applicable, supporting learner progression.
- Provide accurate marking and feedback to support development.
- Work with IQAs on best practice, development needs, sampling, and monitoring.
- Maintain positive relationships with employers, generating progression and new leads.
- Produce accurate and timely reports as agreed on KPI’s.
- Contribute to high-quality learning material production.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant occupational sector experience and qualifications at level 4 or higher.
- Functional Skills Level 2 in English, Maths, and ICT or equivalent, or willingness to undertake.
- Ability to deliver high-quality, effective coaching meeting learner needs.
- Ability to deliver engaging, interactive workshop teaching.
- Excellent written, oral, and presentational skills focusing on audience needs.
- Strong planning, attention to detail, and track record of robust, prioritised plans achieving KPIs.
- Proactive drive for learner performance and engagement.
- Customer focus, ability to present in a positive manner, persuade and influence where necessary.
- Commitment to continuous improvement, process implementation, and change embedding.
- Teaching qualification (Cert.ed/CTTLS/DTTLS).
Desirable
- Coaching qualification.
- Knowledge of government‑funded training.
- TAQA, AVA, A1 or D32/33 Assessor qualification.
