Job Title: Assistant Project Manager (Base)
Location: HM Naval Base, Portsmouth (HMNBP)

Hours of Work: 37 per week

Salary: £30,000 – 45,000
What you will be doing
As the Assistant Project Manager for the Base team, you will be responsible for delivering the Project programme by taking responsibility for all day-to-day issues within the defined section of work, as part of the Project execution delivery at Portsmouth Naval Base, PNB.
This role will be based in the Base Programme area and may support one of a Senior Project Manager’s for one of the major projects being undertaken by the KBS Project Execution team.
- You will ensure the safe, to programme and to budget delivery of a Minor or low value Major project from scope to completion and handover, under supervision of the Programme Manager, delegated Project Manager or Senior Project Manager.
- The projects will be either trade packages or main contractor delivered works as required by the Project Execution team at PNB, and of varying complexity and value.
- Act as POC for the relevant project and interact with the client, users and the KBS team.
- Coordinate and agree workplans with other PNB stakeholders impacted by the projects.
- Oversight of the design deliverable programme with the Design Manager to produce required design information to enable the procurement of packages of work.
- Monitor subcontract operations to ensure that work carried out is delivered to the design, quality and environmental standards.
- Ensure that progress against programme is regularly planned and reviewed, and all potential and/or actual risks are quickly identified and resolved or brought to the Programme Managers’ attention.
- Monitor and report progress to the Programme, Project Manager or Senior Project Manager at regular intervals.
- Report on milestones on a weekly and monthly basis to meet the contract PIs and KPIs.
What you will bring
- You will have proven experience within a projects or similar environment, with the ability to work directly with the customer with Project Management supervision, instruction and mentoring.
- Experience in multidisciplinary projects is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Building Regulations and British standards is an advantage.
- Knowledge of engineering construction aspects of delivering projects is an advantage.

- You will be a logical thinker and enjoy working in an ordered fashion.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills – actively listens, clarifies, gives/seeks feedback, clear and concise, able to negotiate.
- Good organisational skills – you plan well in advance, set clear objectives, review progress against plan, and encourage improvements.
- If you are working towards a Professional Qualification in Construction or Project Management, or likewise an ONC/OND or degree in Project Management, Building or Architecture, this would be advantageous but not essential.
