An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the Information, Advice & Support Service (IASS) in Bromley. The IASS is a statutory service providing support to children and young people with SEND and their parents/carers. The Service has an arms‑length, impartial remit and applicants will need to have experience of effective multi‑agency working, including supporting and challenging colleagues across the Local Authority and the Integrated Care Boards (ICBs). Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills are essential and evidence of how these have been used to effect best outcomes for children and young people.
We are looking for someone with current experience of supporting children and young people with SEND and their families across the education, health, and social care sectors. Experience of managing a team of staff and volunteers to achieve the right outcomes for children in a highly pressurised environment is essential. Candidates will need to provide high‑quality caseload management and supervision to the team. Knowledge of the local area would be beneficial, including – but not limited to – the SEND system, educational provisions, local amenities, demographics, etc.
Robust knowledge of the IASS Minimum Standards is necessary, and IPSEA qualifications are preferable; if missing, a commitment to obtaining these to Level 3 is expected. Proven experience of constructive partnership working with all agencies and departments is essential. Candidates will need to understand and analyse service data to lead on continuous service development. The successful candidate will be able to use this data to drive new initiatives within the service and report on these to senior leaders.
The Service is constantly evolving, and the successful candidate will need to identify and create opportunities and drive change to enhance service provision while remaining flexible, energetic and able to inspire the team to be part of the changes.
