About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Contracts Manager to join a growing business. This role involves managing multiple refurbishment and reinstatement projects, often following fire, flood, and escape of water incidents. A key aspect of the role is overseeing works involving asbestos-containing materials, ensuring full compliance with health & safety and regulatory standards.

You will be responsible for delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while maintaining excellent client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage contracts from instruction through to completion
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, loss adjusters, insurers, and surveyors
  • Plan, programme, and coordinate works across various sites
  • Oversee site teams including foremen, subcontractors, and trades
  • Ensure all works are completed in line with scope, budget, and timeframe
  • Manage projects involving asbestos, including coordination of surveys, removals, and compliance with legislation
  • Ensure strict adherence to Health & Safety regulations, particularly regarding asbestos handling and removal
  • Conduct site visits, progress meetings, and reporting
  • Manage costs, variations, and valuations
  • Maintain high levels of customer service and client satisfaction

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Contracts Manager
  • Strong knowledge of building trades and construction methods
  • Demonstrable experience managing projects
  • Knowledge and experience working with asbestos (e.g. refurbishment/demolition surveys, licensed contractors, compliance requirements). Training will be provided for anyone with small amounts of asbestos experience
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation, including asbestos regulations
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills
  • Strong communication and client-facing abilities
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable Qualifications

  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
  • Asbestos Awareness / Non-Licensed Work Certification (or higher)
  • First Aid at Work
  • Relevant construction qualification (HNC/HND/Degree)
