Overview
Head of Credit Operations: Space Executive have partnered with a fast growing Fintech in the Embedded Finance space. They Partner with large enterprise platforms and leverage on their capital solution onto the platforms end customers, typically SMB's.
Due to continued growth in Germany, they have recently set up an office and starting to build the foundations.
The Role
- Lead and scale the Credit Operations function, building and managing a team of underwriters and KYC specialists and growing the team to approximately 25 employees within the first year.
- Own day-to-day credit operations, including underwriting and KYC processes, ensuring timely, consistent, and high-quality credit decisions.
- Design and implement scalable workflows and operating models to support business growth while meeting defined service levels and risk standards.
- Establish and maintain underwriting and KYC procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and internal credit and risk policies.
- Partner cross-functionally with Risk, Compliance, Product, and Engineering to translate credit policy into efficient operational execution.
- Drive hiring, onboarding, and performance management, including training, quality assurance, and career development for the credit operations team.
- Monitor and report on key operational metrics, such as turnaround times, approval quality, and compliance outcomes, using data to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure audit and regulatory readiness, maintaining strong documentation, controls, and escalation processes.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in Credit Operations, with a background in underwriting and/or KYC within a regulated financial services environment.
- 2+ years of people leadership experience, managing teams of 10+ employees, with demonstrated success in scaling and developing high-performing teams.
- Experience working in a fast-growing fintech, with comfort operating in a dynamic, high-growth, and evolving environment.
- Strong understanding of credit risk, underwriting processes, and KYC/AML requirements, with the ability to translate policy into effective operational execution.
- Proven ability to build scalable processes and workflows, balancing speed, quality, and risk management.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience partnering cross-functionally across Risk, Compliance, Product, and Engineering.
