Construction is one of the most fundamental industries on the planet – just try to imagine human societies without buildings – yet it has also been left behind by the digitalisation revolutions which have transformed other industrial sectors. Construction also accounts for 11% of global carbon emissions, while employing 7% of the global workforce and accounting for 13% of global GDP.
At Converge, we believe that if we are going to be building the cities, structures, and societies of the future then something has to change. We also believe that change will be impossible if you are not measuring what’s actually happening on the ground. That’s why we are building our Physical Intelligence Platform, ConstructionDNA, to help the industry build the future more efficiently, more safely, and more sustainably.
We’re a small but ever-growing team of 55+ with a global outlook, counting 17+ nationalities (and even more languages!) among us. As a team, we are passionate about cutting-edge digital innovation and driven by our mission to build the future more efficiently, safely and sustainably. Come join us!
Role
Converge is hiring for a senior software engineer to help explore new product areas, scale up existing products, and build our underlying concrete data service. You will be working at the leading edge of our new products, interfacing directly with customers, and collaborating closely with other engineers, designers, product managers, and commercial/CX team members.
You must have production Haskell experience and be comfortable working across Typescript and Python codebases, both on the front and back ends. You will be doing a lot of domain modelling and technical design work, so must have experience doing both of those things independently. You will also be involved in mentoring other team members, leading initiatives, and helping to plan the technical direction of the product. More than anything, you need a drive to get whatever needs to be done, done, and done to a high standard.
We would prefer candidates in or around London because it’ll be faster for you to get up to speed and collaborate with a whiteboard than over a zoom call, but we will also consider remote applicants that are based within 2 hours of UK time zones.
Responsibilities
- Provide senior software engineering work across product areas, including exploration of new products and scaling of existing ones.
- Interfacing directly with customers and collaborating with engineers, designers, product managers, and commercial/CX teams.
- Engage in domain modelling and technical design work, independently delivering on defined tasks.
- Mentor other team members, lead initiatives, and help plan the technical direction of the product.
- Maintain a high standard of delivery and drive to completion of tasks.
Qualifications
- Production Haskell experience.
- Proficiency with Typescript and Python across front-end and back-end development.
- Experience with domain modelling and technical design work, independently and collaboratively.
- Experience mentoring team members and leading technical initiatives.
- Strong drive to deliver high-quality results.
Location
London preferred for speed of onboarding and collaboration; remote applicants within 2 hours of UK time zones will be considered.
What we offer
- 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays. We also close over the end of year holiday so you can spend more time with your loved ones.
- Social Committee and team events, including family-friendly activities.
- Enhanced Parental Leave to support new families.
- Cycle to Work Scheme to reduce emissions.
- An inclusive workplace that celebrates diversity and treats everyone fairly and respectfully.
- Dog-friendly office.
