Your Mission: build and maintain the foundational financial platform that guarantees the integrity and compliance of every transaction across Wise’s global ecosystem. The systems you own secure the integrity of over £40bn in monthly financial flow across all of Wise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Accounting and Operations workstream within the Finance Product team, acting as the architect of financial truth at Wise.
  • Own finance processes around accounting business processes, master data management, AR/AP, and payouts.
  • Define and execute product strategy to achieve real-time reconciliation and assurance at global scale, providing functional finance teams with systems to operate effectively, compliantly, and efficiently in 50+ countries.
  • Design systems and controls that ensure completeness and accuracy of financial flows, and eliminate operational risks.
  • Drive the vision for a ledgering system processing over 1 bn+ journal entries per month while sustaining a throughput of 200 k events per minute.
  • Collaborate with engineers to influence ledger design, data models, and event‑sourcing patterns.
  • Define and move KPIs tied to features shipped, building roadmaps that transform uncertainty and chaos into clarity.

Qualifications

  • Domain Understanding: knowledge of finance systems from an engineering, data, or product perspective; experience operating in finance organisations, including financial reporting, risk and controls.
  • Product Management Excellence: multiple years of product building experience as a product, engineering, or operations leader; strong individual contributor willing to build product yourself; background that demonstrates a unique strength (engineer, analyst, consultant, financial, entrepreneur, etc.).
  • Leadership: enthusiasm for Wise’s mission, empathy for the problems we solve, and the drive to build something unprecedented.
  • Flexible approach: not bound to a “by the book” definition; proactive learner willing to unlearn and learn new skills.
  • Problem‑solving: analytical mindset, clear problem framing, hypothesis development, measurement, and ability to influence technical architecture. Demonstrated system‑level thinking and design of interconnected systems.

Nice‑to‑Haves

  • Finance, payments, or treasury experience, particularly in ledgers, controls, or accounting.
  • Experience with SOx controls or audits.
  • Experience with third‑party finance systems.

Benefits and Compensation

  • Base salary: £145,000 to £185,000 + RSUs.
