About the job you’re considering
We’re seeking passionate Principal Site Reliability Engineers who want to grow their career and delight customers through a hybrid of project and foundational activities. We take a modern approach of working collaboratively internally and externally to achieve high levels of satisfaction both for our clients and ourselves collectively. We achieve this through focused groups of technical people, known as Pods, coming together to deliver and maintain services to UK clients.
Hybrid working
The places you work from day to day will vary according to your role, your needs, and those of the business; it will be a blend of company offices, client sites, and your home; you will be unable to work at home 100% of the time.
Your role
As an integral part of a Cloud Pod, you’ll have fantastic opportunities to develop yourself and our collective capabilities as you progress both project and foundational requirements with other like‑minded experienced SREs and Cloud Engineers. As part of the team, you’ll be empowered to:
- Build and maintain scalable platforms with a high degree of focus on technical reuse, standardisation and blueprints; think “GitOps” not “ClickOps”.
- Fully embrace Agile ways of working and focus on customer outcomes as we group around activities in agile sprints, and within defined error budgets to ensure reliability and customer success.
- Continue to strengthen and bolster your own existing capabilities in site reliability through a mix of professional training, certifications, experiences, mentoring, developing the skills of others, and promoting best practices across teams.
- Contribute to evolving Capgemini offerings, shaping solutions that deliver value for clients and advance our cloud‑native strategy.
- Support Critical National Infrastructure and be part of a regular on‑call rota.
Your skills and experience
- Leadership in SRE operations with strong expertise in OpenShift and Kubernetes; certifications like CKA or CKS are a plus.
- Systems architecture experience in complex multi‑cloud or hybrid environments.
- Proficiency in service mesh technologies such as Istio, and hands‑on experience with EDB Postgres for enterprise‑grade databases.
- Deep knowledge of observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, LogiStack, Tempo) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Kustomize or Helm; scripting skills in Bash and Python.
- CI/CD pipeline management with GitOps principles using Tekton, ArgoCD, or FluxCD; strong automation and consistency focus.
- Mentorship and best practices promotion, plus familiarity with Red Hat ACM/ACS and networking tools like Submariner.
We are a Disability Confident Employer
Capgemini is proud to be a Disability Confident Employer (Level 2) under the UK Government’s Disability Confident scheme. As part of our commitment to inclusive recruitment, we will offer an interview to all candidates who declare they have a disability and meet the minimum essential criteria for the role. Please opt in during the application process.
Your security clearance
To be successfully appointed to this role, it is a requirement to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance. To obtain SC clearance, the successful applicant must have resided continuously within the United Kingdom for the last 5 years, along with other criteria and requirements. Throughout the recruitment process, you will be asked questions about your security clearance eligibility such as, but not limited to, country of residence and nationality. Some posts are restricted to sole UK Nationals for security reasons; therefore, you may be asked about your citizenship in the application process.
