Job Description
First Blue Healthcare Ltd is an expanding provider offering accessible, supportive and collaborative care for children and young people who have suffered early life trauma, neglect or abuse and have educational behavioural difficulties.
Purpose of the Role
To be responsible for shaping and delivering the residential home’s Statement of Purpose and managing the team to achieve the same.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage a residential home and ensure efficient operation in accordance with legislation, procedures, policies and the Statement of Purpose.
- Responsibility for safeguarding and promoting individual rights, ensuring high quality, inclusive care.
- Produce a development plan for the service that ensures delivery of high quality, clinically informed practice.
- Support adults to achieve the highest standards of care for the children and young people.
- Co‑ordinate and monitor casework and administrative functions, evaluate standards of performance.
- Assist and supervise continual assessment of the needs of children and young people, identify and prepare specific development plans.
- Contribute to comprehensive team training and development programme.
- Maintain individual standards through continuous professional development, including keeping a record.
- Develop appropriate relationships with adults, young people and stakeholders.
- Liaise with internal and external multi‑disciplinary teams and commissioning authorities.
- Ensure professional ethics and behaviour are demonstrated by all adults; act as focal point for support, advice, and coaching.
- Organise duty rotas to meet the needs of young people.
- Ensure medication processes within the home are conducted in line with legislation.
- Work with other managers to ensure collaboration toward meeting emotional and physical needs and planning for positive outcomes.
- Register with the regulator and uphold requirements and conditions of registration.
- Ensure all necessary documentation required by regulators is completed to high standard.
- Promote appropriate and therapeutic relationships between adults, young people and families.
- Be part of an on‑call system.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment; ensure building upkeep.
- Work within HSW Act and Children Act 1989; promote open communication and cooperation with designated personnel.
- Demonstrate sound safeguarding knowledge and leadership abilities; excellent communication skills; produce reports; knowledge of Care Standards 2000 and Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.
- Registered Manager on‑call duties; provide cover as needed for other homes.
- Occasional overnight cover.
- Monday–Friday 9am–5pm with on‑call duties.
Qualifications
Hold a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services, or be working towards this qualification. Demonstrate senior‑level experience within a residential children’s home setting.
Required Experience
- Working in a Ofsted Registered Children’s Home: 3 years (required)
- Managing within an Ofsted Registered Children’s Home: 1 year (required)
Licence / Certification
- Level 5 in Leadership for Health and Social Care (Children) (required)
- Driving Licence (required)
- Right to Work in the UK without Sponsorship or Restrictions (required)
