UX Designer II

The Research Data Platform (RDP) as the data layer behind products like Scopus and SciVal, handling data feeds from external partners, transforming and enriching them, and making them available for consumption by various Elsevier products.
A UX Designer II contributes to defining customer interactions for our products. She/he executes design work within an established strategy and collaborates with cross‑functional teams to deliver user‑centred solutions.
Collaborates with UX Research to better understand user needs and behaviours.
Applies user insights to inform design decisions
Understands how their work contributes to improving customer satisfaction
Stays aware of relevant market and product developments to inform design context
Creative Problem Solving
Works with product, engineering, and design stakeholders to explore solutions.
Uses data and research insights to inform ideas and design directions.
Proposes design solutions to defined problems.
Seeks feedback and input from team members to improve outcomes.
Product Design
Creates user experience deliverables such as wireframes, prototypes, and user flows.
Applies established design systems and UCD practices in their work.
Collaborates with UX Research on usability testing and incorporates findings.
Demonstrates solid interaction design skills and attention to detail.
Clearly communicates design rationale and decisions.
Data-Driven Analysis & Testing
• Uses available data and research insights to inform design decisions.
• Supports the identification of metrics to evaluate design effectiveness.
• Participates in usability testing and iterates designs based on findings.
• Identifies where additional research or data may be helpful.
Technical Skills
Has a working understanding of the organisation’s technology and platform constraints
Designs appropriately for different platforms and devices
Uses design tools (e.g. Figma) proficiently
Collaborates effectively with engineering teams
Prepares and communicates design specifications for development
