Overview
Our client, a market leader in the design, development, manufacture and distribution of supply solutions worldwide, is recruiting a proactive Production Process Engineer near Coleshill, Birmingham. Salary: cGBP50k.
Responsibilities
- Develop, improve and sustain manufacturing processes across cutting, pressing, tin plating and assembly operations.
- Lead the specification, procurement, installation and commissioning of new automated machinery and production line layouts.
- Analyse cycle times, drive Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) improvements, reduce scrap, and maintain robust operator training standards.
- Support quality improvement through process control, root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions.
- Design, develop and optimise manufacturing layouts to improve flow, safety, and efficiency.
- Lead procurement activities for new automated machinery, including specification development, supplier selection, technical evaluation, installation and commissioning.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process documentation.
- Implement data‑driven methodologies to diagnose problems, collect and analyse data, implement solutions and sustain improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement (CI) initiatives aligned with company strategy.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience in a Production / Process Engineering role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in metal processing (cutting, pressing, plating, assembly).
- Qualification at HNC level or above in a relevant Manufacturing or Production Engineering discipline.
- Strong knowledge of the MS Office suite and experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD and CAM (CREO Parametric preferred) and AutoCAD for layout design.
- Experience supporting automation projects and capital equipment procurement.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement methodologies, with knowledge of OEE improvement tools and structured problem‑solving techniques (8D, DMAIC, etc.).
