Controls Engineer / Control Software Engineer

Salary: circa GBP60,000, dependent on experience, plus benefits.

Location: East Midlands – commutable from Nottingham, Leicester and Coventry.

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Controls Engineer to complement our established professional team and deliver machine control system solutions as part of a range of automated machinery projects.

Responsibilities

  • Write and develop software, PLC and HMI code for automation projects.
  • Design electrical control systems for special purpose automated machinery.
  • Deliver control and safety systems that comply with the Machinery Directive and applicable standards.
  • Design electrical systems, select components, and generate detailed circuit diagrams.
  • Integrate various robots (SCARA, Delta, 6-axis).
  • Liaise extensively with customers, suppliers and team members; communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Follow projects from design, through development and commissioning of machine control and safety systems.
  • Create electrical documentation, including circuit diagrams, cable schedules, installation documents, Bills of Materials and bills of materials.
  • Ensure compliance with European and international safety standards and select & procure necessary components.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in software design and PLC coding.
  • Experience with Omron, Siemens and Allen Bradley equipment (advantageous).
  • Comprehensive electrical design experience for machine automation using ePlan.
  • Knowledge of national and international electrical standards for machine design, safety systems and CE marking.
  • Degree level or equivalent in electrical/electronic engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites across the UK as required.
