About the Role
As Senior Estimator, you will take ownership of tenders from initial enquiry through to formal submission, collaborating closely with planners, bid managers, engineers and supply chain partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Register, analyse and manage tender documentation effectively
- Lead the preparation and management of tender submissions from receipt to delivery
- Develop winning tender strategies in collaboration with multi‑disciplinary colleagues
- Present tenders and recommendations at internal tender review meetings
- Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive, accurate pricing
- Carry out detailed technical and commercial appraisals (labour, plant, materials, temporary works)
- Produce accurate first‑principles costings and undertake take‑offs from drawings
- Analyse project risks, propose mitigation strategies and ensure compliant tender submissions
- Prepare estimating reports and tender submission documentation
- Support and mentor assistant estimators and contribute to team capability development
- Collaborate with proposals, planning and contract management teams as required
What You Bring
Essential
- Previous experience as a Senior Estimator in civil engineering or infrastructure sectors
- Strong first‑principles estimating capability
- Robust understanding of multi‑disciplinary projects (rail, highways, aviation, utilities, environmental, etc.)
- Experience working within a civil engineering contractor environment
- Proficiency in Excel, Word and estimating software (e.g., Causeway or similar)
