Our client is a London-based AI startup that has recently secured Series B funding and is currently looking for a Senior or Staff Backend Product Engineer to join their engineering team.
The company is building cutting-edge AI-powered products and is seeking strong builders and product thinkers who enjoy solving challenging problems and building scalable systems. This role is ideal for engineers who are comfortable with autonomy, ambiguity, and fast-paced, iterative product development, and want to help shape the platform for thousands of users.
Skills and Requirements
- Strong experience as a Backend Engineer at Senior or Staff level.
- Proven experience building and scaling backend systems for production.
- Proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js.
- Experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
- Familiarity with serverless architecture, such as AWS Lambda.
- Hands‑on experience with AWS and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform preferred).
- Experience building products from concept to MVP.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with strong ownership and problem‑solving skills.
- Collaborative, product‑focused, and able to communicate with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Interest and hands‑on experience with AI tools and technologies.
Role and Responsibilities
- Scale and evolve backend systems to support product growth.
- Design and build reliable APIs and backend services.
- Support infrastructure for AI‑powered features.
- Optimise database performance and efficiency.
- Improve monitoring, reliability, and observability across services.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product teams to deliver impactful features.
- Build products from concept to MVP and iterate quickly based on user feedback.
- Contribute to platform architecture and technical decisions.
