ABOUT THE ROLE

The Category Buyer/Project Manager is responsible for purchasing goods and services necessary to achieve category and wider business objectives, as well as managing projects within the packaging category team across markets. This role ensures procurement activities are cost‑effective, timely and compliant with internal policies and external regulations, and that projects are delivered on time.

Contract type: 6‑month fixed‑term contract

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Run procurement RFx processes (RFI, RFP, RFQ) for sourcing initiatives.
  • Assist in the development and execution of procurement strategies, cost‑saving initiatives and amendments.
  • Contribute to procurement reporting and analysis, including spend analysis, cost trends and savings tracking.
  • Develop and maintain a KPI scorecard system to track performance for projects and strategies.
  • Lead end‑to‑end project delivery across packaging categories.
  • Act as a single point of accountability for packaging project delivery.
  • Establish and maintain project governance frameworks in line with packaging strategy.
  • Manage project interdependencies across markets, workstreams and suppliers.
  • Facilitate regular communication between suppliers and internal teams to ensure expectations are clear and delivery milestones are met.
  • Support cross‑functional teams in supplier selection, contract negotiation, and performance evaluation.
  • Provide guidance and support to stakeholders regarding procurement processes, sourcing options, and policy compliance.
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve supply‑related issues to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Support identification and mitigation of category‑specific risks including supply chain disruptions and non‑compliance.
  • Track adherence to procurement policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Support contract development and management activities, including renewals.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in a buyer role with strong project management skills.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Commercial awareness and cost‑conscious mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Project management and ability to work across many stakeholders.
