London Youth Rowing – Active Row London SEND and AP Programme Manager

London Youth Rowing (LYR) is looking for an engaging and creative person to lead on inclusion and diversity as part of our Active Row Programme.

The role centres around building and maintaining relationships with SEND schools and teachers and we are seeking an exceptional individual, confident in engaging young people in physical activity and is passionate about working with those that may have special educational needs or disabilities.

Pay and Working Hours

This is a full-time role with a salary between £25,000 – £28,000 depending on experience. LYR operates on a 4-day week. The working days are either Monday to Thursday or Tuesday to Friday typically with at least one evening a week and occasional weekends/events throughout the year. Days in lieu of working additional hours will be arranged and agreed with your managers.

The Role

Active Row (AR) is LYR’s flagship school engagement programme. The programme aims to engage participants from a range of different backgrounds, introducing them to the sport of rowing, tackling inactivity, building Life Skills and improving wellbeing. The programme currently runs across London, Nottingham, Leeds Bradford and Wakefield and Kent, with Bristol becoming our newest location. Schools are provided with coaching and equipment to run indoor rowing clubs through the winter and on-water rowing in the spring and summer.

This role is based in London and will be responsible overseeing the SEND/AP branch of the Active Row programme. This will include managing the relationship that LYR has with the local schools and organisations at every level, as well as liaising with stakeholders in the programme. The role also includes delivering sessions and co-ordinating and recruiting a team of volunteers to help you with session delivery, working with local Universities and rowing clubs. You will often be working independently and remotely but need to maintain good, strong communication with your coaching team and support your colleagues closely both mentally and practically.

While in this role, you will consistently be working and focusing on your own development and experience as a coach and programme lead within the world of rowing and grassroots sports. While in this role, you will have the chance to shadow peers, have mentors within your team, and have support of your line manager and coach developer. Your development is at the heart of the programme, supported by your colleagues and using the framework of opportunities that LYR will offer, you will be responsible for making the most of your journey with LYR.
