We are recruiting an experienced European Road Freight Manager to join a well-established global freight forwarder based in Leeds.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong European road freight forwarding experience who is looking to take ownership of key accounts, manage a small team and join a growing logistics business with an excellent reputation in the market.

Salary: GBP45,000 – GBP55,000 per annum

Location: Leeds

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: Up to £50,000 + Company Car or Car Allowance

The Role

As European Road Freight Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing European road freight operations, managing key customer accounts and leading a small operational team.

You will work closely with customers, hauliers, overseas partners and internal departments to ensure freight is moved efficiently, profitably and to a high standard of service.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop key European road freight accounts.
  • Lead, support and motivate a small freight operations team.
  • Oversee European groupage, part-load and full-load movements.
  • Ensure customer requirements are met and service levels are maintained.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and overseas partners.
  • Handle operational queries, escalations and problem‑solving.
  • Monitor workloads, performance and team output.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, service and margins.
  • Work closely with senior management to support business growth.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in European road freight forwarding.
  • Strong knowledge of European road freight operations.
  • Experience managing key accounts.
  • Team leader, supervisor or management experience is desirable.
  • Experience working for a freight forwarder is essential.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Commercially aware with good problem‑solving ability.
  • Organised, proactive and able to work in a fast‑paced freight environment.
