We are working with Northampton General Hospital to recruit a Band 4 Pharmacy Technician to join a busy and supportive hospital pharmacy team.

This is a great opportunity to contribute to a patient-focused pharmacy service, supporting the safe and effective supply of medicines across inpatient and outpatient settings.


About the Role

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a key role in delivering dispensary-based technical services, ensuring patients receive medicines safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Accurately dispensing prescriptions for inpatients, outpatients, and discharge patients
  • Supplying medicines and supporting patient counselling
  • Managing Controlled Drugs and maintaining accurate records
  • Supporting stock control, storage, and medicines optimisation
  • Undertaking final accuracy checking (once accredited)
  • Participating in dispensary and wider pharmacy rotations
  • Supporting training and supervision of junior staff and dispensers


You will work closely with pharmacy teams and clinical staff across wards and departments to maintain a high-quality service.


Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Pharmacy Technician (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician
  • Experience with dispensing and stock control systems
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment


Desirable

  • Experience with final accuracy checking
  • Experience supervising or training staff
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice
  • Experience in hospital pharmacy settings
