Purpose of the role
Camira is seeking an exceptional Head of Creative Design to lead the creative vision and design delivery. This is a senior leadership role for a creative leader who can balance strategy with design resolution.
The Head of Creative Design (Contract) will champion high quality design. They will play a key role in the successful delivery of Camira’s ambitious growth plans across strategic areas, influencing design, product development and building the brand and its reputation with customers.
The successful candidate will lead a team of internal contract designers, providing strong leadership to deliver a coherent approach and act as a guardian for the Camira brand.
The day to day
- To adhere to the Camira Code of Conduct and comply with all relevant quality, environmental, health & safety, data protection, and corporate legislative requirements
Strategic Purpose
- To concentrate on the Contract fabric Sector and take ownership for delivering the creative vision and driving the 2-to-5-year forward product strategy through the creative and development process to benefit the growth of the business.
- Lead and manage the contract creative team in supporting the Creative Director’s vision and direction by delivering the Contract product strategy (where we are, where we would like to be and contribute to how we get there) ensuring that the knowledge and understanding of the internal and external environment is adequate to support the decision-making process.
Research and Understanding the Customer
- Establish and develop relationships with creatives, influencers and customers worldwide. To both build the brand and its reputation with customers and to inform future design and product development.
- Lead and manage creative workshops with key strategic customers, involving Sales, Design, Product Management.
- Represent and promote Camira Fabrics at industry-relevant events, exhibitions, sales conferences and with customers and act as an ambassador for Camira.
Research and Development
- Research current trends and utilise this knowledge to be inspirational in expanding the scope of Camira’s trend direction.
- Bring together the global trend research with customer and market end user requirements, to lead and drive new product proposals.
- Consult and collaborate with Camira’s Product Manager to deliver the Camira product strategy ensuring this is aligned with the overall business strategy.
- Effectively and regularly present trend and new product direction to all stakeholders.
- Support the Creative Director in the development of the vision for our yearly insight presentations by providing professional standard communication and visualisations
Design
- To be a creative guardian of Camira textiles; leading, inspiring and delivering a strong, uncompromising creative point of view to Camira.
- Deliver product solutions which embed sustainability, and design excellence.
- Assume accountability and lead the team on the design and the colouring of our collections and ranges.
- Working directly on design led concepts for our portfolio and with strategic customers to develop and implement new products to consolidate market leadership.
- Provide strong design leadership and work collaboratively with the Creative Director , providing clear insight (product, colour, aesthetics and technical attributes required by our market and or customer) to the innovation, design teams and technical teams to help shape and create new marketing leading product.
- Take responsibility along with Camira Technical team for ensuring all products are fit for purpose in terms of performance specifications and environmental aspects.
- Manage, drive and nurture collaborations with other designers & companies who compliment and strengthen the Camira product range and ethos.
- Experience in project management and product development, often managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines for project completion.
Marketing
- In conjunction with the Creative Director, for our Contract, take ownership for the Camira Signature.
- Support the Creative director and Marketing in a collaborative manner on photography and social media styling, branding, exhibitions and showroom spaces, showcasing new fabrics in a truly inspirational way.
- Attend relevant industry and networking events, preparing and giving talks to relevant customers promoting the Camira Brand, acting as the keeper of the brands’ relevance, aesthetic and values.
- Working with the Creative Director to formulate design “stories” for range development and facilitate this with marketing for ABMs and customers.
- Input into innovative ideas and brainstorms on marketing material and merchandising, focused on elevating the brand and inspiring our customers.

- Strong conceptual skills to work up ideas and be energetic about presenting ideas and concepts to customers.
- The ability to work independently with passion and drive whilst demonstrating high levels of resilience and energy.
- Outstanding textile design skills including woven and surface pattern design.
- Proven ability to demonstrate new solutions and creativity, whilst assessing its commerciality.
- Have a desire to be the best in everything you do with an ability to create a positive and inspiring culture.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically about complex issues and develop thoughtful recommendations and action plans.
About you
- You will be an experienced leader combining creative rigour and design ambition who can inspire teams, shape creative direction, and deliver product solutions that will excite our customers.
- You will have extensive experience of leading projects in Textile design for Interiors.
- Strong woven textile design skills.
- Your experience of leading and managing design teams will have resulted in a culture of development, high performance and team cohesion, with a clear design direction and ethos.
- You will bring an innovative and flexible approach to leading teams and projects which embed sustainability, and design excellence.
- Your ability to communicate and influence will have enabled you and your team to deliver outstanding results and to effectively advocate for design at all levels, and across all of its touch points.
