The Role Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor (IntermediateSenior Level)
Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of infrastructure work, GMC Utilities Group are seeking an Intermediate to Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Galway.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading civils and utilities contractor, supporting the commercial delivery of infrastructure projects across Galway and surrounding areas. The role offers strong long-term progression, exposure to live utilities projects, and the opportunity to develop within a growing market leader.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Cost Management
- Assist in managing project costs, budgets, and forecasts
- Prepare cost reports, CVRs, and financial tracking documentation
- Monitor project profitability and support cash flow management
- Assist with value engineering and commercial risk management activities
Contract & Risk Management
- Support administration of contracts (NEC experience beneficial)
- Maintain variation trackers, risk registers, and EOT logs
- Ensure contractual compliance and accurate project record keeping
- Assist with change control and commercial correspondence
Procurement & Subcontract Management
- Support subcontractor procurement and negotiations
- Review subcontractor accounts and supplier payments
- Assist with preparation of subcontract agreements and payment certificates
- Support final account processes where required
Variations & Reporting
- Measure, price, and track project variations
- Assist with monthly reporting and commercial reviews
- Attend site and management meetings as required
- Liaise with project teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and accounts departments
Team & Project Support
- Work closely with site and project teams across live infrastructure projects
- Support junior surveyors and contribute to commercial awareness across teams
- Assist in managing multiple projects within fast-paced civils environments
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Degree in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management (or similar)
- 6+ years experience within Quantity Surveying
- Background in civils, utilities, or infrastructure projects
- Full clean driving licence
- Strong communication and organisational skills
Desirable
- Experience working with NEC contracts
- Exposure to water, drainage, or power infrastructure projects
- Experience in site-based delivery environments
