School Support Assistant (GIRFEC and Safeguarding Admin) Currie Community High School Salary: £26,806 – £27,032 (pro-rata for part-time and sessional) Hours: 29.75 per week, 39 weeks sessional The working pattern for this post is Monday to Thursday 9:00 to 16:30 and Friday 9:00 to 13:00. Currie Community High School is situated to the south west of the City of Edinburgh and serves the communities of Currie, Riccarton, Juniper Green and Baberton Mains. The school has served the local community for some 350 years. The school enjoys excellent links with the local community and as a designated community high school, a quality community programme is offered. The school’s Qualification Scotland results are above both local and national averages and an extensive range of wider achievement opportunities are offered. We are seeking a skilled and motivated School Support Assistant to provide administrative support to the Depute Head Teacher with responsibility for Child Protection and Safeguarding, and to the Integrated Support Team. The successful candidate will have meticulous attention to detail, strong ICT skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The primary tasks of the role include minute taking, maintaining confidential records, and supporting the monitoring of whole school attendance. As this role supports the Integrated Support Team it is of particular significance that the successful candidate understands and demonstrates the importance of observing confidentiality. The working pattern for this post is Monday to Thursday 9:00 to 16:30 and Friday 9:00 to 13:00. This role is one of supporting the staff team and does not involve working directly with young people. The sessional working information attached to this advert explains how salaries are calculated for sessional and part time posts. This post is 0.72FTE (full time equivalent) so the salary will be approximately 72% of the salary range above. This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check.
