Role Overview
Rosewood Bespoke Joinery are seeking additional Bench Joiners to join our team. The Bench Joiner is responsible for the manufacture and assembly of high-quality joinery components and finished products within the workshop. The role involves interpreting drawings, machining timber products, assembling joinery items, and ensuring all work meets required quality, safety, and productivity standards.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing & Assembly
- Manufacture bespoke and standard joinery items including doors, frames, windows, cabinets, counters, shelving, and other timber products
- Read and interpret technical drawings, cutting lists, and specifications
- Accurately mark, machine, assemble, and finish joinery items at the bench
- Use hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery safely and efficiently
- Carry out glue-ups, fittings, sanding, and preparation for finishing
Quality & Productivity
- Ensure all work meets required quality standards and tolerances
- Maintain consistent output while achieving production targets
- Identify and report defects, errors, or material issues
- Take pride in workmanship and attention to detail
Health, Safety & Housekeeping
- Follow all health & safety procedures and company policies
- Carry out routine checks and basic maintenance of tools and machinery
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workstation
- Use PPE correctly and report any hazards or near misses
Teamworking & Communication
- Work effectively as part of a production team
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and colleagues regarding workload and priorities
- Support apprentices or junior staff when required
What you'll bring
As a Bench Joiner your main skills and experience should include:
Essential Criteria:
- Proven experience as a Bench Joiner within a joinery workshop or manufacturing environment
- Strong ability to read and work from technical drawings
- Competence using woodworking machinery (e.g. spindle moulder, planer, saws, morticer)
- High standards of workmanship and attention to detail
- Good understanding of timber materials and joinery techniques
Desirable Criteria
- NVQ / City & Guilds in Carpentry & Joinery (or equivalent)
- Experience with bespoke or high-end joinery manufacture
- Knowledge of modern manufacturing methods and tolerances
- Experience working to production schedules and deadlines
