Overview
The post holder will oversee the delivery of the Paediatric Cardiology training programme in NHSE England North West and support the Head of School in its strategic development, contributing to the School Operational Programme. The role is a member of the School Board and the Medicine Speciality Training committee.
Secondment
Applicants from within the NHS will be offered the position on a secondment basis only. Applicants must obtain agreement from their employer before applying.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the Specialty’s Regional Training Programme.
- Manage specialty‑specific matters and trainee/trainer concerns.
- Recruit to training posts and programmes.
- Postgraduate programme management: assessments, progression, rotations, support and remediation, out‑of‑programme (OOP) management, trainee career support, part‑time training, inter‑deanery transfer, academic training, and related work‑streams.
- Improve learner supervision, assessment, experience, faculty engagement, and educational outcomes, and focus on workforce transformation and multi‑professional link development.
- Ensure compliance with national standards set by the Royal College and guidelines within Paediatric Cardiology.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be an experienced NHS Consultant with a thorough understanding of Paediatric Cardiology training across the region, strong leadership and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a multi‑professional team.
Workplace
Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in our offices.
