This is a key leadership role responsible for the strategic direction, daily operations, and financial management of the service. You will inspire and support a dedicated team, ensure high standards of care and education, and work closely with families, partners, and the Board of Trustees to shape the future of the Centre.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
- Provide clear leadership, promoting a culture of excellence, inclusion, and child‑centred practice
- Lead, support, and develop staff through supervision and appraisals
- Oversee curriculum planning and delivery in line with national standards
- Facilitate staff meetings and promote effective communication
- Build a positive, collaborative team environment
Operations
- Oversee staffing, contracts, and HR matters in line with policy and legislation
- Coordinate with external professionals and agencies to support children's needs
- Ensure smooth day‑to‑day running of all services
Finance & Reporting
- Manage budgets, financial reporting, and reconciliation
- Prepare reports for the Board of Trustees
- Ensure compliance with financial and regulatory requirements
Quality & Compliance
- Lead quality assurance, self‑evaluation, and continuous improvement
- Ensure compliance with Care Inspectorate and SSSC standards
- Maintain robust risk assessments and safeguarding practices
Community & Partnerships
- Build strong relationships with families, schools, and partner agencies
- Lead parental engagement initiatives
- Represent the Centre within the wider childcare community
Training & Development
- Support staff development, training, and CPD
- Contribute to developing the future workforce through placements
Safeguarding & Support
- Promote safeguarding and child protection at all times
- Support vulnerable children and families with tailored approaches
Strategic Development
- Lead policy development and review
- Drive forward strategic planning and long‑term sustainability
