The opening of the Specialist Pharmacist – Aseptic Services position at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (279) is scheduled for a 12‑month secondment, with a closing date of 19 May 2026.
Specialist Pharmacist Aseptic Services
As a key member of the Pharmacy team, you will deliver high‑quality pharmaceutical care within the Aseptic Services Section. Responsibilities include clinical, technical and administrative duties that ensure safe and effective preparation of SACT medicines.
Main duties of the job
Daily responsibilities:
- Support and maintain the work of the Aseptic Services Section of the Pharmacy.
Clinical Duties:
- Provide specialist clinical pharmacy service to all cancer patients.
- Collaborate with other lead specialists nationally to develop best practice for pharmacy services to cancer services.
Aseptic Preparation:
- Ensure aseptic facilities meet standards assessed by external audits.
- Help develop and deliver a safe, efficient and effective pharmaceutical aseptic service.
Quality Control:
- Assist Lead Pharmacists in responding to internal and external inspections.
Education and Training:
- Train all staff within aseptic services to be competent in the preparation of all aseptic preparations.
- Identify and address own learning needs.
- Monitor chemotherapy regimens and clinically check prescriptions prior to production.
- Ensure chemotherapy agents are manufactured to available standards.
Qualifications
- Master of Pharmacy degree or equivalent, registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Experience working within a hospital pharmacy department, preferably in cancer services or aseptic services at a band 7 level.
- BOPA membership and Good Clinical Trial Practice (GCP) training.
- Extensive portfolio of CPD with identifiable outcomes.
Reporting Structure
- Reports to the Lead Pharmacist – Aseptic Services.
- Accountable to the Chief Pharmacist.
Salary and Benefits
Band 7 post. Salary ranges from £49,387 to £56,515 per annum (pro rata), dependent on experience.
