Finance Department

The Finance department is pivotal for reporting financial results and maintaining robust controls over financial reporting for internal stakeholders, auditors, and regulators. The Controls team will be based in London with global responsibility and is expected to include representation in the US.

Finance Control Manager

The Finance Control Manager oversees the financial control infrastructure at Marex, managing the framework across finance, including balance sheet substantiation and identification of control gaps. Responsibilities include maintaining a book of actions to completion to mitigate weaknesses, implementing system support for control activities, and addressing SOX-related issues to ensure adherence to internal controls and financial reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Collaboration:

    As a member of the Finance Controls team, you will build strong relationships with key stakeholders—Finance management, internal audit, external auditors, and business unit leaders—to foster a culture of compliance. You will collaborate with the wider Finance team to review processes and reconcile substantiations.

  • SOX Compliance Support:

    Ensure that internal controls support the Sarbanes‑Oxley Act Section 404 requirements. Work with management to address weaknesses identified in SOX reviews.

  • Internal Controls Management:

    Design, implement, and test internal controls over financial reporting across the organization. Identify and evaluate control gaps and facilitate remediation.

  • Risk Assessment and Process Improvements:

    Contribute to risk assessment and quality assurance to identify financial and operational risks, ensuring appropriate controls are in place. Drive continuous improvement in control processes.

  • Coordination with External Auditors:

    Communicate with external auditors on control matters, assist in preparing quarterly reviews and annual audits, and address auditor queries.

  • Training and Awareness:

    Provide training and guidance to stakeholders on internal control best practices, promoting a culture of compliance.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    Work with Finance, IT, Legal, and Operations to align controls with business objectives and regulatory requirements.

  • Operational Risk Framework:

    Adhere to the operational risk framework, ensuring compliance with all regulatory or company parameters.

  • Integrity and Conduct:

    Model highest standards of integrity and conduct, reflecting company values.

  • Code of Conduct:

    Comply with FCA’s Code of Conduct (UK only) and Marex’s Code of Conduct (non‑UK).

  • Policy Adherence:

    Ensure awareness and adherence to internal policies related to your role and activities.

  • Risk Escalation:

    Escalate risks and provide workable solutions.

  • Risk Management Input:

    Provide input to risk management processes as required.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong knowledge of the Sarbanes‑Oxley Act, COSO framework, and other relevant financial regulations.
  • Proficiency in internal controls design and testing, financial reporting, and risk assessment.
  • Familiarity with financial systems and software tools such as Peoplesoft, SAP, Oracle, and audit management software (e.g., Workiva, TeamMate, RSA Archer). Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience in financial services or a regulated industry.
  • Proven track record of assessing and improving controls and processes within a finance team, with an understanding of the regulatory environment and reporting requirements.
  • Experience with control audits, risk management, and process optimization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CPA, CIA, or other relevant certifications preferred.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment and knowledge of associated risk and compliance requirements.
