Southwark Council is seeking an Environment Enforcement Officer to support the Environment & Community Protection team within the Stronger Neighbourhoods service. This role helps maintain clean, safe neighbourhoods and ensures compliance with environmental legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate environmental offences including waste issues, fly‑tipping and littering.
- Issue fixed penalty notices in line with council policy.
- Gather evidence, prepare case files and support legal processes.
- Engage with residents, businesses and community groups.
- Maintain accurate records, reports and enforcement logs.
About You
- Experience in environmental enforcement, community safety or compliance.
- Confident dealing with the public and managing challenging conversations.
- Strong understanding of environmental legislation and enforcement powers.
- Proactive, reliable and able to work independently across the borough.
- Good IT and record‑keeping skills.
