Fire Alarm Engineer
Nelson Recruitment Services are recruiting for Fire Alarm Engineers on behalf of their client. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced engineers to join a growing business offering strong earning potential, career development, and excellent equipment support.
Contract: Permanent | Hours: Minimum 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday | Salary: £31,855 – £40,630 per annum (based on 40 hours) | Benefits: Significantly higher earnings available with overtime, travel time, call‑out and weekends
You Will Be Expected To
- Maintain, fault find, install, and commission systems including fire alarms, automatic opening vents (AOVs), CCTV, access control, warden call systems, fire extinguishers.
- Correctly complete engineer service reports.
- Identify and report deficiencies or system deviations.
- Maintain and service emergency lighting systems and associated equipment.
- Carry out regular van stock checks, liaising with Engineering Technical Supervisor and Procurement to ensure correct stock levels.
- Maintain a strong Health & Safety mindset, identifying risks and reporting issues promptly.
- Achieve first‑time fixes wherever possible.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- A flexible approach to work (engineers typically work 45–50 hours per week).
- Willingness to work weekends and participate in an out‑of‑hours call‑out rota.
- A full UK Driving Licence.
- Proven fire alarm experience, including analogue addressable and conventional systems.
- FIA training (or equivalent) to BS5839‑1 Fundamentals.
- Strong understanding of BS5839, particularly Part 1 and Part 6.
- Good IT literacy.
- Sound understanding of Health & Safety regulations.
