Newbury / Hybrid (three days per week in our office in Newbury).

About The Role

Graduate Java Developer – join our team in Newbury on a hybrid basis. You will solve complex problems as part of a team of like‑minded colleagues and play a key role in helping Gamma’s product teams deliver the best possible solutions.

This exciting, challenging role offers a large scope within a small, experienced team, including senior members who joined as graduates themselves. A typical day includes attending the daily stand‑up, establishing priorities, and building solutions that meet the requirements. You will tackle abstract problems while applying a practical, delivery‑focused approach. You will be trained to a high level in the programming languages you will use, principally Java, and may also work across the full stack from front‑end to database design and general software development best practices. No prior experience in telecoms is required – we will teach you everything you need to know.

About You

• A good understanding of software design and data structures; experience with Java is essential.
• Understanding of the full software development lifecycle, including formal testing (unit and integration).
• Ability to learn and work with technologies and frameworks. Some exposure to Struts, Spring, JavaScript or REST APIs would be advantageous.
• Strong interest and aptitude in software development.
• A 2:1 degree (or predicted) from a good university is normally required; preferred subjects include Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science. Applicants without a university degree will also be considered if strong aptitude is demonstrated.
• Able to start soon, by early July at the latest.

It Would Be Great If You Also Had

• Some commercial experience (second job, internships, work experience, placements).
• Programming experience with Python to complement your Java.
• Experience working with relational databases; SQL (Azure/Snowflake) experience is desirable.

• We can’t offer visa sponsorship or relocation support for this role.
• This role is hybrid, with three days per week from our office in Newbury.
