Senior Backend Engineer (+ Equity) at Series A AI-native fintech platform

About The Role

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will design and implement robust backend systems for an AI workspace, ensuring security and compliance. You’ll collaborate with ML engineers to integrate models for financial services clients, directly impacting how financial institutions leverage AI to transform operations.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs for the AI workspace platform
• Build and optimize data pipelines for processing large-scale financial datasets
• Implement robust security measures and ensure compliance with industry regulations
• Collaborate with ML engineers to integrate machine learning models into backend systems
• Optimize database schemas and queries for high-throughput operations
• Lead technical design reviews and mentor junior engineers
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot production issues
• Contribute to engineering best practices and technical documentation

What We’re Looking For

• 7+ years of professional backend engineering experience
• Expert-level proficiency in Python and modern web frameworks
• Deep understanding of relational databases, especially PostgreSQL
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP acceptable)
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Compensation & Benefits

• £200,000 – £250,000 base salary + equity
• Direct reporting to the founders
