Role Overview
An experienced Credit Controller to be responsible for safeguarding cash flow by managing customer accounts, applying effective credit controls, and driving timely debt collection across two business entities. The role partners closely with Finance, operational teams and senior stakeholders to provide clear insight into credit performance, manage risk, resolve queries, and ensure compliance with internal policies and external requirements. You will be working Mon - Fri 40 hours per week and required to be in the office 2-3 days a week.

Requirements
- Proven experience in credit control, accounts receivable or a similar finance role
- Strong understanding of cash allocation, remittance reconciliation & aged debt management
- Confident user of Excel and Microsoft Office tools, with the ability to run, analyse and present credit and debt reports
- Sound knowledge of invoice processing, PO matching and contractual payment terms
- Experience conducting credit checks and assessing customer credit risk
- Able to achieve vetting to BS7858 Standards
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of accurate cash allocation across two business entities
- Reconcile customer remittance advices and investigate variances promptly
- Ensure invoices are accurate, compliant, and correctly matched to POs
- Produce, run and analyse aged debt and other credit reports
- Maintain a strong understanding of customer payment terms, ageing profiles and agreed collection strategies
- Actively manage shared finance/credit control and personal inboxes, ensuring timely responses and prioritisation
- Lead customer conversations regarding overdue balances, negotiating payment plans and providing clear, professional feedback
- Liaise with credit insurers on credit limits, risk exposure and potential claims
- Carry out credit checks for new and existing customers
- Escalate overdue accounts to third‑party debt recovery agencies
- Comply fully with all company policies, procedures and regulatory requirements
- Support external audits and compliance activity by providing accurate information when required
