Specialist Cardiac Radiographer -Cath Labs - Band 6

Bart's Heart and Thorax Centre (BHTC) are currently seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic Cardiac Cath Labs trained Radiographer who is looking for the opportunity to join a friendly, hard-working, ambitious and highly skilled team of Radiographers within the largest Cardiovascular Centre in Europe. The Cardiac Imaging department boasts a wealth of state‑of‑the‑art equipment, with ten Cardiac Catheter Labs and an endovascular theatre, three dedicated Cardiac MRI scanners, and a dedicated photon‑counting Cardiac CT scanner, networking and expanding our services across the Trust. We are proud to lead the way in world‑first procedures using the latest technological advances and undertaking ground‑breaking research and live broadcasting of cases for educational meetings and congresses. We support and encourage our Radiographers to be involved in publishing research and representing us at conferences both in the UK and around the World.

Main duties of the job

The job role is based within Cardiac Catheter labs where you will cover cases in complex coronary intervention, structural heart intervention, electrophysiology and pacing, as well as endovascular cases in the cardiothoracic theatre, with the potential for future progression to Cardiac CT and Cardiac CMR. Within BHTC Cath Labs, we provide 24‑hour Heart Attack and Arrhythmia services via three call systems. As part of this fast‑paced, exciting role you would be a key member of the MDT, offering life‑changing, life‑saving diagnosis and treatment to patients from London and beyond. The working pattern of this post is comprised of four 9.5‑hour shifts per week, with optional weekend lists on staff bank. Our highly specialised Radiography team has the expertise required to provide excellent training, mentoring and on‑going support for the successful applicants, and we actively support staff well‑being, CPD participation and additional training opportunities.

Qualifications

• BSc or Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography
• HCPC State Registration
• Post‑Graduate specialist training

Experience

• Demonstrable evidence of expert Cardiac Cath Lab radiographic experience
• Experience of working with junior staff and students
• Minimum of two years practical Cardiac Cath Lab Radiography experience post‑qualification
• Experience in pursuing innovation and role development in Cardiac radiography
• Experience in more than one hospital
• Evidence of advanced knowledge in Cardiac Radiographic Imaging and procedure

Knowledge

• Portfolio of evidence of advanced professional development, training and education for Cardiac Radiography
• Evidence that knowledge of Cardiac imaging techniques is up to date
• Evidence of the ability to critically analyse Cardiac radiography practice and role development/training potential
• Post‑graduate specialist training

Skills

• Advanced knowledge in a range of Cardiac Cath Lab imaging techniques and innovations
• Demonstrated awareness of responsibility to and advocacy for patients
• Teaching and training skills with the ability to adapt teaching styles to the needs of trainees
• Team player with enthusiasm for Cardiac radiography, with the ability to engage staff at all levels
• PACS, RIS and CRS knowledge and experience
• IT skills, including advanced Microsoft Office
• Demonstrated enthusiasm and ability to motivate others
• Ability to work under pressure whilst subject to interruption
• Willingness to embrace new ideas and concepts
• Very high personal and radiographic standards, with attention to detail
• Ability to use own initiative, solve problems and make decisions
• Evidence of participation in QA Programme and maintenance of agreed standards
• Good understanding of legislation relating to Health & Safety and Radiation Protection

Other

• Requirement to work full time (37.5hrs), four 9.5‑hour shifts, with one rota‑d day off per week.
• Requirement to work some late duties, participate in the out‑of‑hours on‑call rota and weekend waiting list initiatives as required, with suitable provision for a 1‑hour response time to site.
• Requirement to manage own workload and diary.
• Sufficient to perform the duties of the post with any aids and adaptations.
