Safeguarding Officer (Part-Time)

Salary: School Support Scale 19 24 (Actual £15,741 – £17,386)
Contract: Permanent, 18.5 hours per week (flexible), Term Time Only plus 2 weeks
Location: Edgar Wood Academy, Heywood Old Road, Heywood, OL10 2QN
Start Date: September 2026

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Safeguarding Officer to support the day-to-day safeguarding and child protection processes at Edgar Wood Academy. Working with the DSL and pastoral team, you will manage concerns, support students and families, and contribute to a strong safeguarding culture.

Key Duties

  • Manage and investigate safeguarding concerns using CPOMS
  • Support students through interventions and welfare checks
  • Work with families and external agencies
  • Contribute to Early Help processes and multi-agency work
  • Maintain accurate records and safeguarding compliance

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with vulnerable children or young people
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to manage workload and handle sensitive information
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
