Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Nurse with leadership experience at Band 5 or above and a strong background in caring for patients with eye conditions.
Roles include developing high standards of care, supporting junior staff, and contributing to service improvement.
Responsibilities
- Eye Emergency Care (including telephone triage)
- Pre‑operative assessment
- Nurse‑led outpatient clinical activity
- Lead and support junior staff and students
- Work collaboratively with all members of the Ophthalmic Multidisciplinary Team
- Contribute to service improvement in the specialty
Overall Purpose
- Co‑ordinate and supervise the delivery of evidence‑based care to a group of patients within the department, whilst acting as a role model.
- Undertake telephone‑triage of patients presenting with ophthalmic accidents and emergencies
- Provide clinical leadership and promote effective team functioning
- Work at a clinical level commensurate with specialist nursing in the field of Ophthalmology
Qualifications
- Band 5 or above nursing experience with leadership responsibilities
- Ophthalmology‑specific post‑registration qualification or working toward this
- High standard of patient care and strong support for junior staff
