Responsibilities
- Provide high quality evidence‑based care to patients attending with injuries and undifferentiated health problems.
- Work as an autonomous practitioner delivering care to our patients.
- Utilise expert diagnostic skills and clinical reasoning to provide autonomous, unscheduled care for patients presenting with acute undifferentiated conditions (most commonly minor injuries and ailments, though some presentations may involve complex health needs and/or acute on chronic conditions).
- Collaborate with Emergency services, other health‑care professionals, statutory and voluntary agencies.
- Co‑define standards of care and practice with colleagues, including doctors and trainee ACPs, aimed at maintaining, developing or improving quality.
- Coordinate with other CLCH walk‑in centres/UCCs, including occasional cross‑cover to other sites.
- Work with senior staff in the operational management and organisational development of the service.
- Work shifts during operating hours (currently 8 am–8 pm, subject to change with commissioning requirements).
- Handle a varied and rewarding clinical caseload locally.
Person Specification
Education/Qualification
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration or Registered Health Professional (physio, paramedic) with HCPC.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
- Evidence of continuing professional education and training at Masters level in an Advanced Clinical Practitioner programme or willingness to work towards an MSc in Advanced Practice.
- Independent Prescriber (or on pathway to complete).
- Qualification in prehospital care or community care.
- Qualification in teaching or practice‑based learning.
- University‑accredited Minor Injuries Module.
Experience
- Proven experience of utilising expert diagnostic and clinical skills to provide autonomous, unscheduled medical care and management of patients presenting with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions.
- Proven experience in assessing, managing and treating minor injuries and minor illnesses.
- Experience of effectively working in collaboration, negotiating and liaising across organisational boundaries.
- Experience in monitoring clinical standards.
- Proven ability to prioritise and manage own workload with minimal supervision.
- Experience caring for patients of all age ranges.
- Minimum of five years' experience in either emergency/unscheduled care or a primary care environment.
- Experience of team/service/staff management.
- Experience of implementing evidence‑based care and developing others to do so.
- Experience of conducting research projects and audit.
- Experience of change management and implementing change in practice.
- Evidence of innovation in practice.
Skills and Knowledge
- Evidence of comprehensive range of clinical skills and expertise relevant to the role.
- Competent in physical examination of patients of all ages.
- Basic IT skills including use of Microsoft Office package and email.
- Specialist knowledge in clinical reasoning, history taking, physical examination, diagnostic skills and prescribing/treatment.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of anatomy and physiology of body systems.
- Clinical knowledge across a range of long‑term conditions.
- Knowledge of recent developments in unscheduled care.

Compensation
£55,524 to £62,652 per annum, inclusive of HCAS, pro rata.
