Job Description:

A vacancy for a Senior Clinical Fellow in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at St Michael’s Hospital, part of University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.

This role involves:

  • Enhancing advanced obstetric skills through attendance at a high‑risk preterm birth prevention clinic and fetal medicine lists.
  • Working within Maternal Medicine with multidisciplinary antenatal clinics in endocrine medicine, haematology, cardiac disease and neurology.
  • Participation in consultant‑led obstetric medicine ward rounds.
  • Contributing to the full shift on‑call rota (3rd on‑call), covering Obstetrics and Emergency Gynaecology.
  • Teaching and mentoring nurses, midwives and junior doctors in educational and training activities.

Schedule and On‑Call

Shift structure: Anticipated up to 1 day per week for service provision (antenatal clinic or daytime labour ward cover). Additional duties include:

  • Monday – Friday: Mat. med ward round 8‑9 am
  • Fetal medicine list (morning)
  • South West Maternal Medicine Network MDT 10‑11 am
  • Mat. med specialist clinics (weekly rotation among cardiac, haematology, pre‑pregnancy counselling, neurological, GI, general)
  • High‑risk preterm birth prevention clinic (afternoon)
  • Perinatal mortality meeting (monthly)
  • Dysmorphology meeting (monthly)
