Deputy Manager Children’s Residential Care Role Overview

As Deputy Manager in this children’s residential care setting, you will support the Registered Manager in the daily running of the home, ensuring high‑quality, compliant, and consistent care delivery. You will act as a key leader within the service, supporting staff development, safeguarding practice, and ensuring every child receives personalised care aligned with their individual needs and care plans.

Key Responsibilities – Deputy Manager Children’s Residential Care

• Support the Registered Manager in leading a children’s residential care service
• Ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations and safeguarding standards
• Lead, supervise, and develop residential care staff
• Oversee daily operations including rotas, staffing, and resource planning
• Support the delivery and review of individual care plans
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding and child protection
• Build strong relationships with children, families, and external professionals
• Promote a therapeutic, child‑centred approach across the home
• Contribute to continuous improvement in residential care practice
• Ensure a safe, stable, and nurturing environment for all children

Requirements – Deputy Manager Children’s Residential Care UK

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent (essential)
• Experience in children’s residential care in a supervisory or senior role
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
• Leadership experience within a residential care environment
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Ability to manage pressure and multiple priorities
• A genuine passion for improving outcomes for children and young people
