Electrical Engineer

  • Pay Per Hour: £40
  • Location: Manchester, M60 (Hybrid WFH)
  • Job Type: Full-time (35 hours per week)

Join the Capital Programmes Division at Manchester City Council, responsible for developing and delivering Capital construction programmes valued at approximately £200m per year across the city. We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Electrical Engineer to work within our M&E project team.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Take responsibility for the electrical design, planning, management, and delivery of projects and programmes.
  • Work on diverse projects including maintenance and refurbishment of school programmes, listed buildings, art galleries, city centre public realm monuments, national sporting/leisure facilities, and more.
  • Involve in infrastructure & fabrication improvements, solar PV installations, decarbonisation schemes, and design of the Manchester Christmas Market power scheme.
  • Conduct NBS specification or similar software packages, calculations, and feasibility studies on all types of buildings.
  • Ensure compliance with building and planning legislation, Health & Safety legislation, CDM Regulations, and use CAD software systems effectively.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Electrical Engineering Degree/HND/HNC in a relevant subject or equivalent qualification.
  • Demonstrable experience from a recognised engineering apprenticeship.
  • Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience.
  • Extensive experience in electrical design and a wide range of construction knowledge.
  • Successful track record in the delivery of major refurbishment and new build schemes.
  • Proficiency in NBS specification software or similar, and a good working knowledge of CAD systems.
  • Familiarity with relevant commercial and contractual experience.
