Learning Support Assistant (1:1 Support)
Start Date: September 2026Pay: £100 per dayLocation: School-based SEN provision
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 1–aged child with complex Special Educational Needs.
The pupil is non-verbal and has an ASD diagnosis, requiring consistent, patient and skilled support throughout the school day. This is a rewarding role for someone who is passionate about making a genuine difference in a child’s development and wellbeing.
The Role
- Providing tailored, 1:1 support within a specialist SEN school provision
- Supporting communication, emotional regulation and engagement in learning activities
- Working closely with teachers and SEN staff to follow individual support plans
- Encouraging independence, confidence and positive behaviour
- Supporting personal and sensory needs where required
About You
- Experience supporting children or young people with complex additional needs is essential
- Backgrounds in support work, children’s residential care, SEN settings or similar roles are very welcome
- Calm, reliable and able to build trusting relationships
- Patient, resilient and adaptable
- Curriculum knowledge is not essential, as this role is centred on support rather than academic delivery
Requirements
- Enhanced DBS certificate that is clear and up to date (or willingness to obtain xwzovoh one)
- Previous experience with ASD and non-verbal communication is highly desirable
