Food Technology TechnicianLocation: Newham, East LondonContract Type: Full-time Start Date: Immediate
We are seeking a reliable and organised Food Technology Technician to support our busy and well-resourced Food Technology department in a thriving secondary school in Newham.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a practical environment and supporting students in developing essential life skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare ingredients, equipment, and resources for Food Technology lessons
- Support teachers and students during practical cooking sessions
- Ensure kitchens and food preparation areas are clean, hygienic, and compliant with food safety regulations
- Monitor and manage stock, including ordering supplies and checking deliveries
- Maintain equipment and ensure it is safe and ready for use
- Support displays and events related to the department
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have experience in a food preparation, catering, or school environment (desirable but not essential)
- Hold (or be willing to obtain) a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
- Be highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Have a good understanding of health, safety, and hygiene standards
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Show enthusiasm for supporting young people in a practical learning environment
