Senior Engineer - Infrastructure & Drainage
Location: Bridgend (Hybrid Working)Salary: Up to £53,000 + car allowance + package
We are working with a leading UK infrastructure and construction organisation to recruit a Senior Engineer - Infrastructure & Drainage for their established design team based in Bridgend.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced drainage and infrastructure engineer to deliver high-quality, sustainable design solutions across public and private sector projects. Working within a contractor-backed design environment, you will collaborate closely with construction teams, influence buildability decisions and see your designs delivered on major infrastructure schemes, alongside delivering standalone consultancy commissions for clients.
The Role
Reporting to a Senior Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical and commercial delivery of drainage, SuDS and civil infrastructure design projects from concept through to construction.
Key responsibilities include:
- Producing drainage, SuDS and infrastructure designs, including detailed below-ground networks and strategies for buildings, highways and public realm schemes
- Planning, delivering and managing work packages, contributing to programming, pricing, proposals and cost estimates
- Providing technical assurance through the checking and authorisation of designs, drawings, calculations and reports
- Delivering standalone consultancy commissions, working collaboratively with clients and stakeholders
- Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental requirements and CDM Designer’s Duties, embedding safe and sustainable design
- Mentoring and supporting graduate engineers and technicians
- Using and developing digital tools and BIM workflows, including Civil 3D, MicroDrainage and InfoWorks
- Supporting construction phases, providing design assurance and buildability input
About You
You will be a technically strong infrastructure and drainage engineer with UK experience, ideally offering:
- A degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- Chartered Engineer (ICE) status or actively working towards chartership
- Strong experience in drainage and SuDS design, including hydraulic modelling and compliance with national and local guidance
- Experience xwzovoh in civil infrastructure design, including site-wide drainage and public realm works
- Experience preparing SuDS strategies and supporting planning applications
- Experience submitting drainage approvals, including Section 104, 38 and 106
- Working knowledge of MicroDrainage, InfoWorks, Civil 3D and BIM workflows
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
