Engineering Shift Lead (Nights)
Hamilton - Site-based 4 on / 4 off (Night Shift. 7pm -7am) Up to £58,000
The Opportunity
MRD Recruitment is working in partnership with a leading food manufacturing business to recruit an experienced Engineering Shift Lead for their site in Hamilton.
This is a key leadership role on the night shift, responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all production and site equipment while leading a team of engineers in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The Role
As Engineering Shift Lead, you will take ownership of all engineering activity during your shift, combining hands-on technical expertise with strong leadership.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and supervising a team of engineers on shift
- Prioritising and delegating maintenance and breakdown activities
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults
- Minimising downtime and supporting production targets
- Driving planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules
- Leading root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and food safety standards (GMP / HACCP)
- Monitoring shift performance, downtime, and maintenance activity via CMMS
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site
- Managing effective shift handovers and communication
About You
We're looking for a hands-on engineering leader with experience in a manufacturing environment. xwzovoh
Essential:
- Proven experience in maintenance engineering (ideally FMCG / food manufacturing)
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong multi-skilled engineering knowledge (mechanical & electrical)
- Experience working with production, packaging, and utility equipment
- Ability to troubleshoot under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and organisational skills
Desirable:
- Experience with CMMS systems
- PLC fault finding / automation exposure
- IOSH or relevant health & safety certification
- Food safety / GMP knowledge
