Personal Care Assistant
36 hours per week | 39 weeks per year (Term Time Only)
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistants to support young adults with complex disabilities to lead happy, fulfilling lives and achieve the highest possible level of independence.
This is a specialist, hands-on role involving the delivery of high-quality personal care and wellbeing support throughout the day. You will work closely with students who have complex needs, ensuring their dignity, comfort and safety at all times.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have experience supporting individuals with additional needs and be able to demonstrate training and/or working knowledge of the following:
- Moving & Handling
- Personal Care
- Dignity in Care
- Feeding and Dysphagia
- Infection Control
- Medication Support
- Disability First Aid
Working Hours
- Monday to Thursday: 8:45am – 4:30pm
- Friday: 8:45am – 4:15pm
- 30-minute unpaid lunch break
Flexibility to commit to these hours is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care support in line with individual care plans, including toileting, washing, dressing and continence care
- Support students with feeding, including those with dysphagia, following prescribed guidelines and risk assessments
- Assist with moving and handling tasks safely and appropriately, using specialist equipment where required
- Promote dignity, respect and independence while supporting students’ physical and emotional wellbeing
- Administer or support with medication in accordance with training, policies and procedures
- Monitor students’ health and wellbeing, responding appropriately to medical or care needs
- Maintain high standards of infection control and personal hygiene at all times
