Cover Supervisor (SEN)

Location: Secondary Schools across TeessideContract: Full-Time / Part-TimeStart Date: ASAP

We are recruiting a motivated Cover Supervisor with an interest or experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN). This role is ideal for graduates or aspiring teachers looking to gain valuable, hands-on experience supporting pupils with additional needs in a secondary school setting.

This position offers an excellent stepping stone into teaching, educational psychology, SEN teaching, or pastoral roles.

The Role

• Supervise pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher
• Provide focused support to pupils with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties
• Use positive behaviour and SEN-aware strategies to promote engagement
• Offer emotional and academic support to help pupils access learning
• Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams

The Ideal Candidate

• A graduate or aspiring teacher with a strong interest in SEN
• Previous experience working with children or young people (e.g. tutoring, mentoring, support work, care, youth work, coaching, or volunteering)
• Calm, patient, and resilient with a nurturing approach
• Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills
• Keen to develop classroom and behaviour-management experience
