Level 3 Teaching Assistant – Primary School

Location: Durham, DH8Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pmContract: Term-time, via Teaching Personnel

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in the DH8 area of Durham is seeking a dedicated Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a positive difference in a nurturing school environment.

Job Description

The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers to support pupils across the primary age range, helping to create a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning experience. You will play a key role in supporting learning, behaviour, and emotional wellbeing.

The Role

• Provide in-class support to pupils across different year groups
• Deliver targeted interventions for individuals and small groups
• Support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
• Assist with lesson preparation and classroom organisation
• Promote positive behaviour and inclusion
• Support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development

Requirements

• Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
• Experience working in a primary school setting
• Ideally have experience supporting SEN and working across multiple year groups
• A calm, patient, and caring approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
