Grounds Person

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Grounds Person to join our team, focusing on the maintenance, preparation, and presentation of sports surfaces and outdoor areas. This role is crucial in ensuring that our outdoor facilities are maintained to the highest standards to support various sports programmes and events throughout the year.
Day-to-day of the role:
Sports Surface Preparation and Maintenance:
- Assist in the preparation, marking, and maintenance of natural turf pitches for sports such as rugby, cricket, football, and other seasonal activities.
- Maintain all-weather surfaces including artificial pitches and athletics areas.
- Perform routine grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, aeration, and irrigation.
- Set up sports equipment and complete line marking for training sessions and events.
- Conduct repair and renovation works on turf as needed.
Grounds and Estate Maintenance:
- Maintain lawns, landscaped areas, and trees ensuring they are clean, safe, and well-presented.
- Support seasonal tasks like leaf clearance and snow management.
- Prepare outdoor areas for various events and sports days.
Machinery and Equipment:
- Operate and maintain grounds maintenance machinery and tools.
- Ensure safe storage of tools and machinery post-use.
Health, Safety, and Security:
- Adhere to all health and safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Report any hazards or faults promptly and follow safeguarding and site policies.
Team Support:
- Collaborate with the operations team, providing support during busy periods and events.
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed to support activities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Interest and experience in grounds maintenance or sports turf management.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Practical skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of health and safety in the workplace.
- Good physical fitness.
Desirable:
- Relevant qualifications in horticulture, sports turf, or related fields.
- Experience with grounds maintenance machinery.
- Pesticide application certification.
- Full UK driving licence.
