Future Power Markets Senior / Senior Lead Analyst Belfast – Hybrid (3 days office / 2 days home) Utilities / Energy Sector £50,412 – £57,699 The Opportunity MCS Group are delighted to be partnering with a major organisation operating within Northern Ireland’s energy and utilities sector as they seek to appoint a Future Power Markets Senior / Senior Lead Analyst to join their growing analytical function. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of the electricity market across Northern Ireland and the wider all-island energy system, supporting the transition towards a low-carbon, renewable energy future. The role sits within a multidisciplinary team focused on market analysis, energy modelling, forecasting and strategic market development initiatives. The Role You will support and lead analytical projects focused on future electricity market design, market forecasting, decarbonisation strategy and power system evolution. Responsibilities will include: Developing and maintaining analytical and forecasting models for electricity market trends and system outcomes Performing data analysis, market modelling and scenario analysis to support strategic decision making Producing evidence-based reports and analytical insights for senior stakeholders Supporting future market development initiatives across Northern Ireland and European energy markets Working closely with internal and external stakeholders across technical and commercial teams Improving analytical methodologies, tools and modelling frameworks Supporting large-scale analytical and market transformation programmes At Senior Lead level, responsibilities may also include: Leading analytical workstreams and complex modelling projects Mentoring and supporting junior/senior analysts Providing technical leadership across future markets analysis initiatives What You Need Degree in Data Science, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Energy Systems or similar Strong experience within data analysis, modelling or forecasting environments Experience using Python, R and Excel for analysis and modelling Ability to analyse and interpret large, complex datasets Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills Experience presenting analytical insights to both technical and non-technical audiences Desirable: Utilities, energy or electricity market experience Experience within SEM / electricity markets Knowledge of transmission, balancing or wholesale electricity markets PLEXOS or other energy market modelling tools Decarbonisation, renewables or energy transition experience Regulatory or market framework exposure Package & Benefits Competitive salary £50,412 – £57,699 Annual performance bonus Private medical insurance Enhanced pension Hybrid working 39 days total leave Flexible working hours EV scheme / cycle to work Professional development support Strong long-term career progression opportunities To speak in absolute confidence about this opportunity please contact Daire O’Connor or send an up-to-date CV via the link provided. / Benefits: Work From Home…
