Project Manager – Western Isles HVDC Project

Location: Western Isles (with office base in Glasgow or Perth)

Contract: 12 months

Rate: £650 per day (via Umbrella)

Working Pattern: Full-time, Monday to Friday

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to support the delivery of a major HVDC infrastructure project in the Western Isles. This role sits within a high-profile, nationally significant programme and will focus on the execution-phase delivery of a major civil and building package.


This is a site-led position, with the expectation to spend the majority of the working week on-site in the Western Isles once construction commences. During pre-construction, time will be split between site visits and office working in Glasgow or Perth.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the safe delivery of a major civil and building package as part of a large-scale HVDC infrastructure project, ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
  • Manage delivery contractors, project programme and execution activities to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality.
  • Take full ownership of NEC3 contract management, including change control, commercial oversight and interface management across multiple workstreams.
  • Drive collaboration across internal teams, contractors and stakeholders to support efficient and coordinated project delivery.
  • Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring all works are delivered in line with established safety principles and standards.


Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience delivering large-scale infrastructure or civil engineering projects (typically £100m+) through the execution phase.
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience of NEC3 contract management, including administration and negotiation.
  • Ability to manage complex programmes, multiple stakeholders and live project interfaces.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and drive delivery across teams.
  • Degree or equivalent experience in engineering, construction or project management.
