About the Role

Following a major project win and a growing pipeline of work, our Civils division is expanding. We are seeking a motivated Civil Engineer with strong design experience to join our team in York.

You will be involved in delivering civil and structural engineering solutions across a range of rail infrastructure projects, contributing throughout the project lifecycle from concept and feasibility through to detailed design and delivery support.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver civil and structural engineering design for rail infrastructure projects
  • Undertake technical design work across structures, geotechnics, drainage, or water management
  • Produce, review, and check calculations, reports, and design documentation
  • Ensure compliance with relevant UK standards, codes, and client requirements
  • Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams
  • Support project delivery across all design stages
  • Contribute to technical problem-solving and design optimisation
  • Mentor and support junior engineers where appropriate


Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Significant experience in civil/structural design within rail infrastructure projects (essential)
  • Strong technical background in at least one of: structures, geotechnics, drainage, or water management
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering design software
  • Strong understanding of UK standards and industry practices
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills


Desirable Requirements

  • Chartered Engineer status (ICE, IStructE or equivalent) preferred but not essential
  • Experience within a consultancy or multidisciplinary engineering environment
  • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects
